About Lisa Schoenbrodt

Hello!  Here is a little about me, Dr. Lisa Schoenbrodt! For over 30 years, I have been a Professor of Speech Language Pathology at 麻豆精选 as well as a practicing Speech Language Pathologist with certification from ASHA and licensure from the state of Maryland.

As a Professor, I have taught numerous courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.  I also have Chaired the department in the past for 13 years and have a am active in research and service. As an SLP, I have provided in-depth assessment and individualized treatment with school-age children and adolescents who have language deficits as a result of a wide range of language and learning disabilities, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and more. I also have many years of experience in collaborating and consulting with teachers, professors, counselors, psychologists, and other specialists.

I enjoy teaching undergraduate and graduate students in my areas of interest and enjoy mentoring and watching students develop their skills to go on and become my colleagues in the field of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.  My most recent passion involves the grants that I have received with my colleague Dr. Leah Saal in the School of Education in the Literacy program.  Together we have developed a curriculum to train self-advocate educators with lived experience with intellectual and developmental disabilities to participate in role play scenarios and panel discussions with law enforcement, EMS, and legal professionals on ways to best communicate and interact in crisis situations.  Along with many of our esteemed self-advocate educators, better known as SAE鈥檚, we have presented to many organizations about our program and also have established a business (https://www.leadabilityllc.com) to continue our work in many areas.  I was recently interviewed by Sheilah Kast from WYPR in March along with one of our SAE鈥檚.  I hope you will listen to the interview!  I am very passionate and excited about the work that we continue to do as it fits very well with the Jesuit Mission of Loyola University Maryland!
