Loyola celebrates the life of Sgt. Stephen Konarski

Stephen Konarski, a police sergeant at Loyola since 1993, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 2. He was 69.

鈥淪teve was a dedicated colleague who supported the campus community,鈥 said Adrian Black, director of public safety. 鈥淚鈥檝e been the director of public safety at Loyola since 2018 and during this time, Sgt. Konarski was always one of our go-to sergeants. He was a jack of all trades. This loss will not only be felt throughout our department, but also among our Loyola community.鈥

Michael Kuhn, a police officer at Loyola, colleague, and friend of Konarski鈥檚 for 40 years, said he will remember Konarski for his friendly demeanor and humor.

鈥淚t's been an honor and a pleasure to have worked with Steve over the years,鈥 said Kuhn, who has worked at Loyola for 13 years. 鈥淢y sincerest thoughts go out to family, friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. He will be sorely missed.鈥

The Jesuit Community鈥檚 5:15 p.m. Mass on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, and the University鈥檚 12:10 p.m. Mass on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, will be offered for the repose of Steve Konarski鈥檚 soul and for his family.
