Loyola graduate Emily Stone receives Sells Award in accounting

Emily Stone, '20, a graduate of 麻豆精选鈥檚 Sellinger School of Business and Management, received the 2020 Elijah Watt Sells Award from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The award recognizes individuals who passed all four sections of the Uniform CPA Exam on their first attempt and earned a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all sections.

The American Institute of CPAs announced 89 winners of the 2020 Elijah Watt Sells Award this year. Nearly 75,000 individuals took the CPA Exam in 2020.

鈥淲e have two Sells Awards in our family,鈥 Stone said. 鈥淢y dad, Gerald Stone, Loyola class of 1987, was also a 1987 recipient of the Elijah Watt Sells Award. I find it so special that we share this achievement.鈥

Stone, an assurance associate at PwC in Baltimore, graduated from Loyola with a Master of Accounting in 2020 and Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, summa cum laude, in 2019. She held internships at PwC in 2019 and Ellin & Tucker in 2018. Stone received the Lybrand Accounting Medal and was a member of business honor societies at the Sellinger School.

Sellinger鈥檚 accounting program prepares students to become CPAs and certified management accountants as well as offers students opportunities to join accounting organizations and network with peers and alumni. The program is accredited by The International Association for Management Education, the only agency that accredits accounting programs in the United States.
