Loyola celebrates the life of Matthew Thompson
Matthew Thompson, a dispatcher for 麻豆精选鈥檚 department of public safety, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, after an extended illness. He was 50.
鈥淢att served our team and our Loyola community in his work as an officer and a dispatcher,鈥 said Adrian Black, director of public safety. 鈥淗e will certainly be missed by all who knew him.鈥
Thompson joined Loyola in 1996 as an officer, left the University for another opportunity, and then returned to Loyola as a dispatcher in October 2015. His wife, Lt. Denise Thompson, also works in Loyola鈥檚 department of public safety.
鈥淚n my 23 years at Loyola, Matt Thompson was one of the best dispatchers I have ever worked with,鈥 said Jocelyn Kelley, associate director for support operations for public safety. 鈥淗e always made us smile, even when times were tough. Matt loved his family very much, and we鈥攁s his extended family鈥攚ill miss him tremendously.鈥
Thompson will be remembered in the intentions at Mass in Loyola鈥檚 Alumni Memorial Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 12, and the 12:10 p.m. Mass in the Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 15, will be celebrated for him, Denise, and their family. All are welcome.
Arrangements
Services will be held at Evans Life Celebration Home in Parkville, with a receiving of friends on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 4-6 p.m. and a memorial service following at 6 p.m. .
