Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ elects four new trustees
Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ named four new trustees to the University’s board to include Susan S. Bloomfield, MBA ’94, Gerry Geckle, ’74, and James Lambdin, MSF ’83, who were elected to four-year terms, and young alumnus Christian McNeill, ’22, for a two-year term.
Susan S. Bloomfield, MBA ’94, is the former general manager of Neutrogena Corp. Her work included leading the cross-functional management board of Neutrogena, delivering profit and sales commitments, creating the strategic vision, the operating plan, new product innovation strategies, advertising and marketing strategies, and developing talent and the organizational culture.
Bloomfield spent nearly 18 years with Neutrogena’s parent company, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), including as vice president for J&J Canada Inc. Returning to the U.S., she was named J&J Consumer Products Co. vice president of beauty care. Prior to joining J&J, Bloomfield started her career in the pharmaceutical industry with Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals and Ciba-Geigy (Novartis).
She earned a Bachelor of Science in international business and marketing from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business and Management. Bloomfield serves as chair of the board of directors for a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating educational inequality and is actively involved with several other philanthropic initiatives around her passion for public education.
Gerry Geckle, ’74, is senior vice president, human resources, at Universal Health Services Inc., where since 2011 she has been leading human resources strategy, operations, benefits, recruiting, employee relations, executive and leadership development, acquisition integration, and workforce planning. She has more than 30 years of experience integrating human resources with overall business strategy.
Prior to joining Universal Health Services, Geckle spent nine years at Wyeth in senior human resources roles including vice president, global operations, and vice president, human resources, in the pharmaceutical division. Prior to Wyeth, Geckle served as senior vice president of human resources for XYAN.com services and vice president of corporate human resources for NovaCare Inc.
A graduate of Â鶹¾«Ñ¡, Geckle was appointed in 2009 to the position of vice chair of the Board of Advisors at Loyola College of Arts and Sciences. In 2018, Loyola awarded her the Carroll Medal, which recognizes distinguished alumni for noteworthy and meritorious service on the University’s behalf. Geckle is a member of The Forum of Executive Women, the National Society for Human Resources Management, and the Philadelphia Society of People and Strategy.
James Lambdin, MSF ’83, is president and CEO of Lambdin Development Co., a real estate development company in Harford and Cecil counties that focuses on residential and commercial land development, commercial construction, and management of investment properties. Before starting his company in 1987, Lambdin was a vice president of First National Bank of Maryland/M&T Bank responsible for commercial lending and business development. Prior to that, he was a member of the audit staff in the Baltimore office of Ernst and Young.
Lambdin earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration-accounting from the University of Baltimore and a Master of Science in finance from Loyola’s Sellinger School.
He served as vice chairman of the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health System Inc. and is a member of the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation board, Harford Community College Foundation board, Cecil County Chamber of Commerce and the Homebuilders Association of Maryland. He has also served as a member of the Harford County Economic Development advisory board, Cecil College Foundation board and M&T Bank advisory board, Northeast Region. Lambdin is a graduate of the Cecil Leadership Institute and a charter member of the Harford Business for Responsible Government.
Christian McNeill, ’22, graduated from Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in international business. A Sellinger Scholar and Dean’s List recipient, McNeill was also the medal recipient for the international business department and the 2019 Cura Personalis award recipient for service, leadership, and academic achievement.
He is a representative of the National Millennial and Gen Z Community, where he strategizes and engages in conversations with Fortune 500 companies, government officials, and local businesses across the country about transforming companies to appeal to younger generations.
While at Loyola, McNeill worked as a research assistant at Loyola’s Karson Institute for Race, Peace & Social Justice, a resident assistant in the Office of Student Life, and a Greyhound Ambassador. McNeill was vice president of policy and advocacy for the Student Government Association, served on the Diversity Advisory Board, the Sellinger Student Advisory Board, the Sellinger School’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and was a member of the Green and Grey Society.
McNeill also achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America and served as an assistant scoutmaster.
