Summer Student Staff Positions

The Office of Residence Life & Housing is currently hiring staff for Summer 2024!

  • Summer RAs 

SUMMER RESIDENT ASSISTANTS (RAs) - Summer 2024

Essential Job Functions:

  • Summer RAs must attend mandatory Summer RA Training from May 13 - May 16
  • Summer RAs will work 8 hours per week within the Office of Residence Life & Housing
  • Summer RAs will be co-supervised by the Residence Life & Housing Program Assistant and Campion Tower Area Coordinator (AC).
  • During Office Hours Summer RAs are responsible for answering the telephone, performing administrative tasks, answering housing questions, and taking care of day-to-day office needs as assigned by any professional staff member.
  • The expectations of Summer RAs require them to be on campus for duty shifts and in the office during their scheduled office hours. We also understand that summer is a time when vacations are scheduled, so anyone needing to take more than four (4) consecutive days of vacation needs to inform the Residence Life & Housing Program Assistant and Campion Tower Area Coordinator at least two weeks in advance (prior to the scheduled vacation) for approval.
  • Summer RAs are expected to be present during the following high-volume times over the summer to fulfill all assigned responsibilities including:
    • Spring to Summer Housing Transition: *Weekend of May 17, 2024
    • Summer Orientation Dates: June 24, June 25, June 27, and June 28, 2024
    • Summer to Fall Housing Transition: *Weekend of August 16, 2024
  • Summer RAs are required to participate in weekly duty assignments. This includes:
    •  Staying in Residence Hall between 8 pm - 8 am on assigned duty nights
    • Completing community walks. Upon completion of each community walk, Summer RAs are expected to complete the appropriate portion of the duty log, noting any maintenance issues, lock outs, and policy violations.
  • Summer RAs must hang door decorations created by the central office for each resident on the floor at the start of the summer, maintain the door decorations and change the door decorations as appropriate in accordance with housing changes.
  • Summer RAs are expected to attend, participate, and be attentive during monthly staff meetings
  • Summer RAs are expected to conduct room inspections as assigned
  • Summer RAs are expected to respond to all emails from the AC and other Resident Life & Housing Staff members within 24 hours of being sent unless previously notifying the Residence Life & Housing Staff members of extenuating circumstances.
  • Summer RAs are expected to complete any assigned paperwork, administrative tasks, and any additional job responsibilities as dictated by the Residence Life & Housing Staff in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Summer RAs are expected to abide by, as well as, enforce the Community Standards, confronting and documenting all violations of the Community Standards appropriately
  • Summer RAs are expected to complete all other duties as assigned by their supervisor and Residence Life & Housing Professional Staff

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled at Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Summer RAs may not have any outside commitments exceeding 20 hours per week, unless approved by the Office of Residence Life & Housing. Summer RAs should be aware that, other than classes, additional internships, jobs, extracurricular activities, etc. must be arranged around the Summer RA schedule.
  • Individuals with full time summer jobs or internships must be given special approval by the Office of Residence Life & Housing to be a Summer RA.
    • If schedules are still being solidified at the time the application is due, please note that in your application and be prepared to discuss your potential plans at the time of your interview.
  • Individuals are expected to submit their summer class schedule and outside activities schedule at the time of application and/or when interviewed.

Compensation

  • Furnished On-Campus Apartment
