Welcome From the Dean

Headshot of Mary Ann Scully, Dean of the Sellinger School of BusinessSince 1943, the Sellinger School has proudly prepared students to create their own legacies of success and impact. Sellinger graduates make a difference in their worlds.

Our programs are characterized by scholarship with impact, purposeful teaching informed by strong research, and acknowledgment of the unique needs of each student. They incorporate meaningful real-life experiences as well as community engagement to ensure our graduates are not only skilled in specialized, cutting-edge business knowledge, but are also uniquely prepared to learn, lead, and serve. We hold dear our ability to guide students towards a lifelong commitment to enduring values and responsible exercise of the power of business to change lives for the better.

Throughout our history, the Sellinger School has been known for its reputation for excellence. From launching the first MBA in Baltimore in 1967, to receiving dual accreditation from AACSB-International in 1988, and consistently earning top national rankings—the Sellinger School is distinguished as a hub of business excellence.

The real Sellinger difference is defined by:

Jesuit Values-Centered Approach

We are guided by Ignatian values including a focus on the whole person, the greater good, the value of reflection, and a global perspective that produces leaders who have the rare ability to step outside of a situation, assess it in its entirety, and make sound, ethical decisions that bring about systemic change. Our students develop the qualities to live not as bystanders, but as agents of change.

Liberal Arts Business Curriculum

As a business school embedded in a liberal arts university, the Sellinger School’s curriculum infuses in-demand technical skills with data-driven analytical reasoning, effective collaboration and communication, innovative entrepreneurial thinking, and critical reasoning skills acquired through an intentional focus on the value of understanding different disciplines. Our curriculum offers both a strong core and numerous options to customize, providing not just content, but context.

Faculty Scholarship and Expertise

Our students learn from faculty who are renowned scholars and experts in their respective fields, as well as executives in residence who bring their industry experience to the classroom. Faculty, staff, and leadership are accessible and attentive to individual needs and committed to a deep personal interest in each student’s success in the classroom and beyond, serving as not only instructors but coaches.

Door-Opening and Life-Shaping Connections

From engaging with our vast and influential alumni network to developing purposeful partnerships with local and global businesses—the Sellinger School is focused on connecting meaningfully with the business community and leveraging opportunities. From day one, we ensure our students begin building not just connections, but meaningful relationships and networks of success.

I invite you to explore our site and learn more about the Sellinger School. As a graduate of Loyola’s MBA program myself, I can attest to Sellinger’s commitment to excellence in business education and the ability to deliver on that promise. I look forward to leveraging our experiences and our networks to help prepare our students to be Loyola ready.
