Information Systems and Data Analytics Major and Minor
As an information systems and data analytics major in Loyola’s Sellinger School of
Business, you’ll be exposed to cutting edge technologies and decision tools as you
develop in-demand skills. Our AACSB-accredited program blends technology with other
functional areas of business including finance, accounting, and marketing—preparing
you to be more than ready for a variety of roles including business analyst, database
administrator, data communication, systems analyst, and telecommunications specialist.
Through a challenging curriculum rooted in real-world projects and a global perspective,
you’ll explore the latest trends in data analytics, database technologies, cloud computing,
machine learning, systems analysis, cybersecurity, and ethical uses of data. Go beyond
the classroom to gain exposure to global firms through a semester-long study abroad
program or a shorter week-long study tour —and take advantage of opportunities throughout
the program to connect with business executives as mentors.
A minor in information systems and data analytics is available to students outside of the major. The information systems track is for students interested in IT design and use while the data analytics track is for students interested in using data to solve business problems. Students may choose a track or select courses from both in order to complete their minor.

My classes focused more on technical capabilities and skills used in the workforce rather than tedious bookwork and provided me with certificates and badges to use on my resume.
